Die Katatonie ist gar nicht so selten und doch wird sie häufig übersehen. Die diagnostischen Kriterien für die Katatonie haben sich verändert. Katatone Syndrome sind prinzipiell gut behandelbar, wenn sie denn rechtzeitig erkannt werden. Unbehandelt ist die Katatonie auch heute noch lebensbedrohlich.
