Zusammenfassung

Vorhofflimmern (VHF) stellt die bei weitem häufigste Herzrhythmusstörung des Menschen dar. Die Inzidenz von VHF steigt mit zunehmendem Lebensalter und wird aufgrund des demographischen Wandels in Zukunft deutlich zunehmen. Daher wird die klinische und sozioökonomische Bedeutung dieser Erkrankung weiter steigen. Trotz etablierter medikamentöser Therapieoptionen ist diese Herzrhythmusstörung eine der Hauptursachen für Apoplex, Herzinsuffizienz, kardiovaskuläre Morbidität und Mortalität. Die Pulmonalvenenisolation (PVI) ist als invasives Verfahren zur Therapie des paroxysmalen und persistierenden VHF etabliert und fest in den aktuellen Leitlinien verankert. Dieser Artikel fasst die aktuellen klinischen Langzeitdaten nach PVI zusammen.
