Truncus arteriosus is characterized by a single arterial vessel arising from the base of the heart and giving origin to the coronary, pulmonary, and systemic arteries. Collett and Edwards [1] recognized four types of truncus arteriosus based on the anatomic origin of the pulmonary arteries. In type 1, a short pulmonary trunk gives rise to both pulmonary branches. An atypical course of the pulmonary trunk with hypoplasia of the pulmonary branches is exceedingly rare, as previously reported [2‐4]. Considering the rarity of this condition it was thought worth reporting. …
