A 76-year-old woman developed bilateral uveal effusion after receiving racecadotril for diarrhoea. The woman presented with blurred vision in both eyes. Fundoscopy and B-scan ultrasound revealed bilateral choroidal effusion. Examination showed a narrow anterior chamber, although intraocular pressure remained within normal limits. History included recent initiation of racecadotril, with no other new medications identified. Other potential causes of uveal effusion were excluded. Racecadotril was discontinued and the woman was treated with topical corticosteroids and atropine. Following withdrawal of racecadotril, the uveal effusion resolved completely. …
