An 81-year-old man presented to the emergency room due to symptoms of chest pain associated with dysphagia and hematemesis. The symptoms began with the sudden onset of chest pain without any trigger while he was resting. This was followed by vomiting of blood and subsequent dysphagia. He denied weight loss, heartburn, or odynophagia. He had never undergone a gastroscopy. His medical history was significant for hypertension and ischemic heart disease for which he was treated with aspirin, atenolol, and amlodipine. …
