Amblyopie – Grundlagen und aktuelle Standards in Diagnostik und Therapie

Zusammenfassung

Bei der Amblyopie handelt es sich um ein entwicklungsbedingtes Defizit des Sehens, das in der sensiblen Phase vollständig oder teilweise reversibel ist. Hauptursachen der Amblyopie sind Strabismus und Refraktionsfehler, seltener – dafür dann häufig Ursache einer tiefen Amblyopie – ist u. a. eine kongenitale Katarakt. In Deutschland liegt die Prävalenz der Amblyopie bei ca. 5 % – ein bei eingeschränkter Vergleichbarkeit der Daten international eher hoher Wert. Da eine Amblyopie nur in den ersten Lebensjahren erfolgreich behandelt werden kann, kommt der Früherkennung amblyogener Faktoren ein hoher Stellenwert zu. Screeninguntersuchungen wie der Brückner-Test helfen dabei, von Amblyopie bedrohte Kinder zu identifizieren. Nur durch eine vollständige augenärztliche Untersuchung inklusive einer Refraktionsbestimmung in Zykloplegie können sicher alle zur Amblyopie führenden Risikofaktoren erkannt werden. Die Therapie besteht in der Beseitigung der zur Amblyopie führenden Faktoren und einer Förderung des amblyopen Auges.
