We read with great interest the case report “A tree branch instead of a ligature: an unusual accidental hanging” by Vadysinghe et al. [
1]. Accidental hanging is extremely rare and seen either in young children or in autoerotic fatalities [
2‐
11]. The authors described a fatal neck compression in a 42-year-old male who was found on a slope in a semi-prone-position with his legs pointing down the slope and the front and lateral sides of his neck compressed by a wedge formed by two branches of a coffee tree [
