To the Editor: Despite abundant literature on clinicopathological spectrum of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection, there is dearth of data on prevalence of RSV infection in premature NICU graduates. Incidence of RSV is thrice greater for preterm infants with 45% of hospitalizations under 6 mo of age [
1]. As reported, 44% of infants below 6 mo with influenza-like illness were found to be RSV positive [
2]. Data from middle/low-income countries on RSV is sparse as its surveillance is often limited by economic constraints. The detection of RSV in Indian hospital-based studies involving children is 5% to 54% [
3]. Even in tertiary-care institutes, definite diagnosis of viral lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in preterms remains uncharted. …
