Rheumatology research in Pakistan: an alarming situation

The rheumatology research not only explores the underlying causes and mechanisms of diverse diseases but also seeks to develop innovative therapies and interventions. The progress of a country’s research endeavors can be reflected (at least) by the number of publications. In fact, the number and quality of publications not only signify the extent of research activity within the country but also serve as a tangible measure of its contributions to the global body of knowledge across various fields. There are various reports where the authors described the research progress of Pakistan in different fields, for instance, chemistry, material sciences, and skin cancer to name a few [1‐3].
