Zusammenfassung

Kurzschaftprothesen wurden entwickelt, um den Knochen des proximalen Femur weitestgehend zu erhalten. Ziel war es, eine physiologischere Belastung des proximalen Femur sicherzustellen und für etwaige Revisionseingriffe eine bessere Situation zu schaffen. Zudem sollten Kurzschaftsysteme das Stress Shielding des proximalen Femur im Vergleich zu konventionellen zementfreien Systemen reduzieren. Hierdurch versprach man sich eine Minderung von Oberschenkelschmerzen und besonders des Knochenverlusts und damit auch eine Risikoreduktion für aseptische Lockerungen der Hüft-Endoprothesen.
