Zusammenfassung

In wenigen medizinischen Gebieten gab es in den letzten Jahren einen so großen Zuwachs an empirisch gewonnenen Erkenntnissen hinsichtlich der Grundlagen und Auswirkungen einer gesundheitlichen Störung wie im Bereich der chronischen Schmerzen. Dennoch hat man den Eindruck, dass diese Erkenntnisse nur sehr unzureichend in die Praxis implementiert werden. Das muss erstaunen, zumal chronische Schmerzen zu den häufigsten Störungen gehören, derentwegen Patienten einen Arzt aufsuchen [12].
