Zusammenfassung

Sepsis, schwere Sepsis und septischer Schock definieren ein Krankheitskontinuum, das über eine Kombination aus Vitalparametern, Laborwerten, hämodynamischen Daten und Organfunktionen definiert wird. Trotz einer Vielzahl verbesserter Therapiemaßnahmen blieben die hohe Letalität und Morbidität der schweren Sepsis und des septischen Schocks innerhalb der letzten 20 Jahre nahezu unverändert. Grund hierfür sind v. a. Defizite in der frühzeitigen Diagnose, der chirurgischen Herdsanierung und/oder der antimikrobiellen Therapie des Infektionsfokus. Um die Versorgung Betroffener zu optimieren, wurde entsprechend den Vorgaben der AWMF (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Wissenschaftlichen Medizinischen Fachgesellschaften e.V.) 2005 auf Initiative der Deutschen Sepsisgesellschaft e.V. erstmals eine Sepsisleitlinie erarbeitet, die 2010 reevaluiert wurde. Sie berücksichtigt Aspekte der Diagnostik und Therapie sowie Präventions- und Nachsorgemaßnahmen der Sepsis. Ihre zentralen Aussagen werden dargestellt.
