There have been many editorials, commentaries, and articles in this journal that address the farthest edge of surgery and surgical research.
Surgical Endoscopy is now being perceived as
the journal where the truly innovative and creative research, in a scholarly fashion, is first introduced to practicing surgeons and the medical community. Issues such as laparoscopic surgery, objective assessment of surgical education, robotic surgery, and surgical simulation have made their debut on these pages. To that end, the practice of surgery, and medicine as a whole, has greatly benefited. The ability to conduct truly innovative research and to have publications peer reviewed for true scientific figure of merit and validity before presentation to our membership is a cornerstone of the advancement of surgical (medical) science [
