Groin pain is a common problem that limits athletes’ training capacity and match performance. Acute groin pain is an issue that should be addressed by sports medicine specialists, team physicians, and physiotherapists. Chronic groin pain in an athlete often requires involvement of surgeons. When groin pain lasts more than 3 months in spite of the treatment modalities for common causes such as muscles, and tendon injuries and inflammations, and osteitis pubis, sportsman hernia is questioned with a multidisciplinary algorithm. [1, 2]. The terminology related to this particular condition has evolved over time. Most terms those were have been used previously are not recommended today, nevertheless a common terminology has not been established [3]. Athletic pubalgia has been rather used widely, whereas pubic inguinal pain syndrome and groin pain syndrome are recently recommended terms [3‐8], however, athletic pubalgia and sportsman’s hernia are still preferred terms by some surgeons who manage this condition [1, 9‐11]. …
