Small blue round cell tumor with focal epithelial differentiation harboring a novel YAP1::LEUTX fusion with poor prognosis

 While the small blue round cell tumor encompasses a group of malignancies with varying origins of differentiation, recent molecular genetic advancements have enabled a more precise definition and revolutionized diagnosis of these tumors. Herein, we report a unique case of small blue round cell tumor exhibiting focal epithelial differentiation and harboring a novel YAP1::LEUTX fusion gene, which does not fit in any known pathological categories. After a thorough investigation of the tumor’s morphology and immunophenotype, along with a comprehensive literature review, we propose a provisional category of LEUTX-rearranged tumors, which has distinct clinicopathological features. …
