Solid variant of aneurysmal bone cyst in the acetabulum

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is an expansible, tumor-like, multicystic bone lesion that is often misdiagnosed. The pathogenesis of ABC remains unclear with theories ranging from a posttraumatic lesion to a reactive vascular malformation. There has been general agreement that it is not neoplastic. Recent genetic and immunohistochemical studies suggest that primary ABC is a genetically predisposed bone tumor [1, 2]. Clinically, it represents one of the most rapidly growing and destructive bone lesions [3]. …
