Cavernous angiomas (CAs), also called cavernous malformations or cavernomas, are uncommon vascular malformations of the central nervous system. CAs occur with an incidence of 0.5 and 0.7 % at autopsy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), respectively. The cerebrum is the most common location for CAs. Spinal cord CAs are very rare (3 %) and occur mostly at thoracic levels. CA frequency is equal in both sexes. Cerebral CA patients typically come to clinical attention in the third to fifth decade of life because of headaches, seizures or focal neurological deficits related to the CA location. CAs in the spinal epidural space are frequently associated with pain and may manifest clinically due to spinal cord compression leading to paraparesis and sensory loss [1]. …
