Doping mit illegalen und legalen Substanzen im Alter

Zusammenfassung

Die Zahl der Menschen, die bis ins hohe Alter teils sportliche Spitzenleistungen erbringen, steigt stetig. Altern führt allerdings auch bei Personen, die regelmäßig Sport treiben, zur Abnahme der Muskelkraft und der kardiovaskulären Leistungsfähigkeit. Daher liegt es nahe, mit anabolen Substanzen auf Muskelmasse und Muskelkraft einzuwirken. Wie viele ältere Personen Substanzen einnehmen, die auf publizierten Antidopinglisten stehen, ist nicht bekannt. Als Dopingsubstanzen stehen neben Anabolika aber auch frei erhältliche Aminosäuren oder Proteinmischungen zur Verfügung. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen kurzen Überblick über die Datenlage zu älteren illegalen Anabolika und fasst neuere randomisierte Studien zu den Effekten der Substanzen Kreatin, Taurin und Molkeneiweiß auf die Muskulatur bei älteren Menschen zusammen.
