Zusammenfassung

Die Messung der Akkumulation der Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs) erlaubt Rückschlüsse auf den Glukosestoffwechsel mehrerer Jahre und könnte die Aussage des HbA1c-Wertes ergänzen. AGEs können mit einer einfachen Methode, die auf der Messung der Autofluoreszenz der Haut (AFH) basiert, nicht invasiv und rasch an der Hautoberfläche gemessen werden. Studien deuten darauf hin, dass die AFH das Screening auf Diabetes und vaskuläre Folgekomplikationen verbessern könnte.
