Summary

Objective

To report the case of a 62-year-old female treated with proton beam radiotherapy for a choroidal melanoma.

Results

After irradiation, the patient was followed-up regularly. Although clinical examination and spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed no signs of radiation maculopathy, OCT angiography (OCTA) enabled detection of abnormalities (rarefaction of the vessel at both retinal capillary plexuses) probably related to the radiation maculopathy.

Conclusion

OCTA could help in the early detection of radiation maculopathy. This could be an important tool to monitor patients and discuss earlier treatments.
