Zusammenfassung

Funktionelle Beschwerden des oberen Gastrointestinaltraktes treten häufig auf und stellen für den Arzt eine Herausforderung dar. Die medikamentösen Maßnahmen sind durch die Indikationsbeschränkungen wichtiger Arzneimittel limitiert worden. Es besteht aber kein Grund für therapeutischen Nihilismus. Aufgrund des hohen Beratungsbedarfs und des Leidensdrucks der Patienten ist die Therapie zeitaufwendig, interdisziplinär, und erfordert viel Empathie.
