Zusammenfassung

Die diagnostischen Strategien zur weiterführenden morphologischen und funktionellen Abklärung nach symptomatischen Harnwegsinfektionen (HWI) im Kindesalter sind im Fluss. Verbesserte Kenntnis der Pathogenese von pyelonephritischen Parenchymschäden und eine veränderte Sichtweise der Dignität des vesikoureteralen Refluxes haben zu Paradigmenwechseln in den zurückliegenden Jahren beigetragen. Mit dem vorliegenden Fortbildungsbeitrag wird beabsichtigt, aktuelle Diskussionen zu Ursachen und Folgen kindlicher HWI, konkurrierende Methoden in der bildgebenden Diagnostik und verschiedene diagnostische Strategien darzustellen.
