Auszug

Gadoliniumhaltige Kontrastmittel (Gd-KM) für die Magnetresonanztomographie (MRT) werden erstmals 1984 beschrieben [1] und seither zunehmend in der klinischen Routine eingesetzt. Sie sind zentraler Bestandteil der meisten Herzuntersuchungen mit der MRT (Herz-MRT). Gd-KM sind außerordentlich gut verträglich, verursachen nur in seltenen Fällen (<0,2 %) (pseudo)allergische Reaktionen und sind nicht nierenschädigend [2]. Allerdings gibt es 2 Beobachtungen im Zusammenhang mit der Gabe von Gd-KM, die eine Abwägung des Nutzens und des Risikos für die Kontrastmittelgabe erforderlich machen.

die nephrogene systemische Fibrose (NSF) und
 
2.
die Ablagerung von Gadolinium in bestimmten Hirnbereichen.
