To the Editor: Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) is widely used in India with its UK cut-offs to assess
four domains of psychological difficulties—emotional problems, conduct problems, hyperactivity, and peer problems, and
one domain of strength—prosocial behavior. The use of UK cut-offs tends to inflate prevalence rates of emotional and behavioral problems among Indian adolescents and those in other countries [

2]. Additionally, three-band categorization scheme (normal, borderline, and abnormal) of the SDQ has been expanded to the four-band categorization scheme (close to normal, slightly raised, high, and very high) for all five domains of the SDQ including the total difficulty score. …
