Neue psychoaktive Substanzen

Substanzklassen, rechtlicher Status, Probleme und Gefahren

Zusammenfassung

Neue psychoaktive Substanzen (NPS) sind meist synthetische Substanzen, deren Wirkungen mit denen klassischer Drogen vergleichbar sind bzw. vergleichbar sein sollen. Aufgrund oftmals fehlender wissenschaftlicher Daten zu NPS, häufig höherer Potenz dieser Substanzen im Vergleich zu deren klassischen Vertretern und variabler Zusammensetzungen von Zubereitungen mit NPS werden nach dem Konsum von NPS immer wieder Intoxikationszustände mit teils erheblichen gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen beobachtet. Der Konsum von NPS kann daher die Notwendigkeit einer notfallmedizinischen Behandlung nach sich ziehen. Derartige Wirkungen von NPS umfassen u. a. kardiale, neurologische, respiratorische, metabolische und psychische Effekte. Auch zahlreiche Todesfälle wurden bereits mit dem Konsum von NPS in Verbindung gebracht. Die Behandlung von Intoxikationen mit NPS beruht oftmals auf einer symptomatisch orientierten Therapie, wobei für einige Substanzen auch die Gabe von entsprechenden Antidoten indiziert sein kann.
