Charles Bonnet syndrome (CBS) is a rare disorder characterized by visual hallucinations that develop following ocular pathologies causing visual impairment or loss, with preserved cognitive function and insight. The disorder is named after Swiss scientist Charles Bonnet, who first described the condition in his grandfather, who developed visual hallucinations following bilateral cataract surgery.
