Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is an acute neurological disorder characterized by headache, visual disturbances, seizures and vigilance status alteration. It is characterized by white matter vasogenic oedema affecting the posterior occipital and parietal lobes of the brain predominantly and it is often associated with acute hypertension.
