Zusammenfassung

Bei der Symptomkontrolle im Rahmen maligner Erkrankungen können auch komplementäre Verfahren bedeutende Beiträge liefern. Dies wird am Beispiel einiger wichtiger bzw. häufiger Symptome von Tumorpatienten dargestellt. Dabei können und sollen komplementäre Verfahren die Therapiemöglichkeiten sinnvoll ergänzen bzw. nur dort angewendet werden, wo keine sonstigen etablierten Verfahren verfügbar sind. Dabei sind sowohl phytotherapeutische Maßnahmen, instrumentelle Anwendungen wie z.B. Akupunktur und auch sog. Mind-Body-Verfahren möglich. Bei z. T. sehr ungenügender Datenlage bei Tumorpatienten kann – zumindest im Hinblick auf unerwünschte Wirkungen – auch auf Erfahrungen bei anderen Erkrankungen zurückgegriffen werden. Insbesondere beim Einsatz von Phytotherapeutika sind mögliche Interaktionen zu beachten.
