Three years ago the former “Zeitschrift für Kardiologie” was changed into “Clinical Research in Cardiology”. Since then only papers in English language were published. Although this change was subject of emotional discussions in the German Society of Cardiology and among the readership, the change in language and also of the new appearance of the Journal was introduced in order to follow the developments of scientific publishing. As a consequence it was expected to increase the international visibility of the papers published in this scientific journal of the German Society of Cardiology. In 2008, the first impact factor for the year 2007 was published. Because impact factors are only one important measure of scientific effectiveness and visibility of published articles, it is time to report on the development of citations as well as on the development of submissions to Clinical Research in Cardiology. …
