Palpitations and insomnia: 2 case reports

In a study of 16 patients, two patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed palpitations or insomnia during treatment with theophylline for syncope without prodromes. Both the patients started receiving oral theophylline 600mg twice daily, which was subsequently titrated to the maximum tolerated dosage. However, one patient discontinued theophylline after 10 months due to palpitations, whereas the second patient discontinued theophylline after 24 months due to insomnia [time to reactions onsets not stated].
