Neonates born within 38–42 weeks of gestation are considered as term or full-term neonates. Neonates that are born at a gestational age less than 37 weeks are regarded as pre-term neonates [1]. Birth before normal gestation period of less than 37 weeks renders the fetus to life-threatening medical conditions, one of these being respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) [2]. RDS is the leading cause of mortality in pre-term neonates. Respiratory compromise leads to ineffective breathing, decreased mobility of lung secretions, and need of mechanical ventilation, and ultimately becomes a question to life. …

S3-Leitlinie „Diagnostik und Therapie des Karpaltunnelsyndroms“

Prof. Dr. med. Gregor Antoniadis Das Karpaltunnelsyndrom ist die häufigste Kompressionsneuropathie peripherer Nerven. Obwohl die Anamnese mit dem nächtlichen Einschlafen der Hand (Brachialgia parästhetica nocturna) sehr typisch ist, ist eine klinisch-neurologische Untersuchung und Elektroneurografie in manchen Fällen auch eine Neurosonografie erforderlich. Im Anfangsstadium sind konservative Maßnahmen (Handgelenksschiene, Ergotherapie) empfehlenswert. Bei nicht Ansprechen der konservativen Therapie oder Auftreten von neurologischen Ausfällen ist eine Dekompression des N. medianus am Karpaltunnel indiziert.
