Während die Versorgung traumaassoziierter Schockraumpatienten seit Jahren klar strukturiert und definiert ist [1, 2], ist das Management kritisch kranker Patienten im Schockraum mit einer nichttraumatologischen Genese bis heute nicht einheitlich geregelt. Obwohl erste Daten eindrücklich zeigen, dass der Anteil der nichttraumatologischen kritisch Kranken weitaus über dem der traumatologischen Schockraumpatienten liegt, ist es nicht verständlich, dass weder ein internationales noch ein nationales einheitliches Konzept zum nichttraumatologischen Schockraummanagement existiert. …
