Trigeminocardiac Reflex During the Endovascular Treatment of Intracranial Vascular Disease: A Report of Two Cases

Trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) has been described as a physiological response that features sinus bradycardia, hypotension, apnea, and gastric hypermotility that results from stimulation of any of the sensory branches of the trigeminal nerve or trigeminal ganglion [1]. Although TCR is a well-understood issue for skull base surgery, the first case in neurovascular intervention was reported until 2007 and it is not fully discussed in the literature [2]. Recently, we experienced two cases of TCR during neurovascular interventions, which were caused by either an unusual or usual etiology. Additionally, we briefly review the TCR cases associated with neurovascular intervention reported in the medical literature. …
