Zusammenfassung

Tumorähnliche Läsionen des Knochens (»tumor-like lesions«) wie die fibröse Dysplasie oder der fibröse metaphysäre Defekt sind in der Regel radiologische Zufallsbefunde und leicht und sicher im Röntgenbild und ggf. im CT zu diagnostizieren. Andere tumorähnliche Knochenläsionen wie z. B. die juvenile Knochenzyste, die aneurysmatische Knochenzyste und Pseudotumoren sind hingegen zumeist symptomatisch und und bedürfen einer aufwendigeren Diagnostik mit MRT, um pathognomonische Weichgewebsstrukturen wie z. B. einen Zystenbalg oder »fluid-fluid-levels« zur Darstellung zu bringen.

Der Name leitet sich vom lateinischen »gossypium« (Baumwolle) ab. Bani-Hani et al. (Bani-Hani 2005) leiten den Begriff vom englischen »gossip« (Klatsch) ab, womit zum Ausdruck gebracht werden soll, dass zurückgelassene Tücher oder Schwämme einen Chirurgen zum Gespött machen können.
