Zusammenfassung

Das Plattenepithelkarzinom stellt das sechsthäufigste Malignom des Menschen weltweit dar. Aufgrund der anatomischen Lokalisation im sichtbaren Bereich und seiner engen Lagebeziehung zu wichtigen funktionellen und ästhetischen Strukturen hat dieser bösartige Tumor erhebliche Folgen auf die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen. Daher ist eine hohe Präzision in Hinblick auf Diagnostik und Therapie erforderlich, v. a. um die Funktion zu erhalten. Die Diagnostik und Therapie der Tumorpatienten sind eine interdisziplinäre Aufgabe. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die wichtigsten Punkte im Bereich der Diagnostik und Vorbereitung der Therapie des oralen Plattenepithelkarzinoms. Dabei wird insbesondere die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Zahnarzt, Hausarzt, MKG-Chirurgen, Strahlentherapeuten, Onkologen und betreuendem Psychoonkologen hervorgehoben.
