1. All three patients presented with treatment-resistant high fever, costovertebral angle tenderness, and very high acute phase reactant values. Although all three cases were evaluated as acute pyelonephritis (APN) in the first evaluation, due to high acute phase reactant levels and septic clinical course, advanced imaging studies were performed and a clinical diagnosis of acute focal bacterial nephritis (AFBN) was made. Since its clinical picture is very similar to that of APN, the diagnosis of AFBN is not always easy to make in patients presenting with these clinical manifestations. …
