Zusammenfassung

Der Erfolg der Urinzytologie hängt von mehreren Komponenten ab. Das wesentliche zytologische Element, nämlich die eigentliche Zellbeurteilung, ist neben der Kenntnis und Berücksichtigung klinischer Angaben von der Anfertigung qualitativ gut lesbarer Präparate abhängig. Daher soll in diesem Kapitel auf die notwendigen Arbeitstechniken ausführlich eingegangen werden. Die Qualität der Präparate geht einher mit möglichst gut erhaltenen Zellen, die in ausreichender Zahl vorliegen. Dies erfordert eine zeitnahe Urinverarbeitung (nativ: innerhalb von 2 bis 4 Stunden!), oder eine zellerhaltende Konservierung beziehungsweise Fixierung des Urins, und die Anwendung von Zellanreicherungsmethoden.
