Welche Wartezeiten auf Kataraktoperationen sind für Patienten akzeptabel?

Hintergrund

Längere Wartezeiten auf Kataraktoperationen gehen mit zunehmender Sehverschlechterung und reduzierter Lebensqualität einher. Ziel unserer Studie war es, die für die Patienten maximal akzeptable Wartezeit (MAWZ) zu evaluieren.

Patienten und Methoden

300 konsekutive Kataraktpatienten wurden gebeten, einen Fragebogen betreffend MAWZ und subjektive Visusbeeinträchtigung (VF-14) auszufüllen. Bildungsgrad, Visus (BCVA), sozialer Status und Familienstatus wurden evaluiert.

Ergebnisse

Die durchschnittliche MAWZ betrug 3,25±2,3 Monate. Es bestand eine signifikante Korrelation zwischen VF-14 Score und MAWZ (r=0,241, p=0,001) und zwischen MAWZ und BCVA (r=0,187, p=0,01). Besser gebildete Patienten (4,30±2,53 Monate, p=0,004) und Patienten, die zusammen mit einem Partner lebten (3,62±2,41 Monate, p=0,031) tolerierten längere MAWZ. Allein lebende Patienten (2,94±2,21 Monate, p=0,107) und Patienten, die sich um einen Pflegefall kümmern müssen (2,83±1,90 Monate, p=0,569), tendierten zu kürzeren MAWZ.

Schlussfolgerung

Die MAWZ ist von der subjektiven Sehbeeinträchtigung und dem objektiven BCVA abhängig. Die soziale Versorgung spielt ebenfalls eine große Rolle.
