Zusammenhänge zwischen Parodontitis und rheumatischen Erkrankungen am Beispiel der rheumatoiden Arthritis

Zusammenfassung

In letzter Zeit wird immer deutlicher, dass eine Assoziation zwischen der Parodontitis und dem erhöhten Risiko von systemisch, chronisch entzündlichen Erkrankungen besteht. Patienten mit rheumatoider Arthritis (RA) weisen ein erhöhtes Parodontitisrisiko zwischen 1,6 und 6,1 auf. Die Assoziation zwischen der RA und der Parodontitis ist bidirektional. Inzwischen gilt eine frühzeitige und intensive Therapieeinleitung als einer der wichtigsten prognostischen Faktoren für den weiteren RA-Erkrankungsverlauf. RA-Patienten nehmen vielfältige immunsupprimierende Medikamente ein. Wechselwirkungen mit anderen Medikamenten sollten deshalb bei RA-Patienten, die zahnmedizinisch behandelt werden müssen, beachtet werden.
