I read with great interest the recent article by Niedźwiecki et al. [
1]. The authors have clearly demonstrated that serum concentrations of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) are significantly higher in patients with anaplastic carcinomas and follicular carcinomas of the thyroid. The findings of Niedźwiecki et al. highlight the increasing utility of serum levels of IL-1ra in surgery. …
