We would like to thank Vetrugno et al. for their insightful opinions and suggestions. Due to altered arterial waveform morphology under the assistance of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), most pulse contour analysis systems cannot identify the systolic and diastolic portion of the waveform correctly. So, these less-invasive monitoring systems are unable to display correct cardiac output (CO) values [

2], a referenced excerpt from a study published by Lorsomradee et al. also mentioned that the FloTrac system will malfunction during IABP counterpulsation [
