Zusammenfassung

Neuroendokrine Tumoren des oberen Respirationstrakts sind insgesamt sehr selten. Zu unterscheiden sind das typische und das atypisches Karzinoid sowie das kleinzellige neuroendokrine Karzinom. Neuere Daten sprechen in Analogie zum bronchopulmonalen System für die Existenz eines großzelligen neuroendokrinen Karzinoms im Kopf-Hals-Bereich und für die Existenz eines kleinzelligen neuroendokrinen Karzinoms des Oropharynx mit Papillomavirusassoziation. Eine Reihe von Argumenten, die sich auf klinische und genetischen Daten stützt, spricht weiterhin dafür, dass Karzinoide und die schlecht differenzierten neuroendokrinen Karzinome sich nicht nur im Differenzierungsgrad unterscheiden, sondern dass es sich hierbei um grundverschiedene Tumorformen handelt.
