Die antimikrobielle photodynamische Therapie (aPDT) in der Behandlung von parodontalen und periimplantären Infektionen

Zusammenfassung

Das Ziel der vorliegenden Artikel ist es, eine Übersicht zur aktuellen Evidenz der biologischen Hintergründe und klinischen Indikationen sowie zu den zu erwartenden Ergebnissen nach der Anwendung der antimikrobiellen photodynamischen Therapie (aPDT) in der Behandlung von parodontalen und periimplantären Infektionen zu geben und Schlussfolgerungen für die klinischen Anwendungen zu ziehen. Basierend auf der vorhandenen Evidenz aus randomisierten klinischen Studien und der klinischer Erfahrung ist die primäre Indikation der aPDT die Behandlung von Resttaschen bei Parodontitispatienten während der Erhaltungsphase (d. h. im Rahmen der unterstützenden Parodontitistherapie). Dabei sollte die aPDT immer in Kombination mit einer mechanischen Entfernung des Biofilms verwendet werden.
