Zusammenfassung

Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden ungeklärten essenziellen Fragen hinsichtlich der Placeboresponse aktuelle empirische Belege gegenübergestellt: 1. Sind die Placeboresponseraten in den mit Medikamenten bzw. Placebo behandelten Gruppen gleich? Für diese allgemein angenommene Additivität wurden nur wenige Belege gesammelt, einige Befunde sprechen dagegen. 2. Ist die Placeboresponse eine Funktion der Wahrscheinlichkeit, ein Medikament oder Placebo zu erhalten? Es gibt Hinweise darauf, dass die Anzahl der Studiengruppen innerhalb einer Studie die Höhe der Placebo- und der Medikamentenresponse bestimmt. 3. Wie groß ist die Placeboresponse in Studien mit einem direkten Vergleich zwischen einem (neuen) Medikament und einem anderen, das z. B. bereits auf dem Markt ist? Es gibt Hinweise, dass solche Vergleichsstudien signifikant höhere Placeboresponseraten erzeugen. 4. Wie hoch ist die Placeboresponserate im klinischen Alltag? Oder: belegt die Medikamentenresponse in Studien die Medikamentenwirkung im klinischen Alltag?
