Zusammenfassung

Schokolade, Alkohol und Kaffee sind Produkte, die aus dem täglichen Leben vieler Menschen nicht wegzudenken sind. Häufig werden diesen negative gesundheitliche Wirkungen nachgesagt, während neuere Untersuchungen in den letzten Jahren auch positive Effekte dieser Genussmittel im Hinblick auf kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen nachweisen konnten. Als Ursache hierfür werden unter anderem Polyphenole verantwortlich gemacht, die z. B. in Kakao und Rotwein enthalten sind und antioxidative Wirkungen haben. Obwohl es unstrittig ist, dass übermäßiger Alkoholkonsum gesundheitsschädlich ist, gibt es auch Hinweise auf kardioprotektive Wirkungen. Kaffee, das beliebteste Getränk der Deutschen, enthält neben Polyphenolen noch zahlreiche weitere Inhaltsstoffe. Am besten untersucht ist das Koffein, das ebenso wie Alkohol in den letzten Jahren Gegenstand zahlreicher Untersuchungen war. Diese Übersichtsarbeit soll einen Überblick über die vorhandene Datenlage in Bezug auf die Wirkung von Schokolade, Alkohol und Kaffee auf kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen geben.
