Zusammenfassung

Eine pharmakologische Behandlung soll dann gewählt werden, wenn subjektive bzw. objektive Belastungen durch die Tics längerfristig ein von den Betroffenen nicht mehr akzeptables Maß an Beeinträchtigung überschreiten und sowohl Psychoedukation als auch eine möglicherweise begonnene Verhaltenstherapie keine ausreichende Linderung erbracht haben. Solche Belastungen können körperliche Schmerzen, Ausgrenzung mit psychosozialem Rückzug, schulische Schwierigkeiten usw. sein. Eine Medikation (wie auch andere Behandlungsmaßnahmen) hat nach heutigem Wissensstand nur eine lindernde, d. h. Tic-reduzierende, aber keine heilende Wirkung. Ziel ist daher eine Reduktion der Tics auf ein erträgliches Maß, kein vollständiges Sistieren. Im folgenden Kapitel sind v. a. die bewährten Dopamin-antagonistischen Substanzen mit guter Wirksamkeit auf Tics aufgeführt. Zudem werden aber auch Hinweise hinsichtlich der Berücksichtigung von komorbiden Störungen und der Abgrenzung zu der immer mehr ansteigenden Anzahl Tic-ähnlicher, funktioneller Bewegungsstörungen, die einem Tourette-Syndrom ähneln, bei der Behandlungsplanung gegeben.
