Abstract
In Chapter 11 we established that the disease was caused by accumulation of copper and toxicity from the excess copper. In this chapter we will begin with a consideration of the mechanism of copper toxicity. How does excess copper cause damage to cells and organs? We will then continue with an overview of the pathology in various organs primarily affected by copper toxicity in Wilson’s Disease. However, we will not provide a detailed discussion or pictures of pathological lesions because this has been done numerous times in the past, and prior publications (for example, 2, 3, 6) can be referred to for that kind of detail of the pathology.
