Abstract

Präsenzerleben und Transportation beschreiben das Phänomen, dass Mediennutzer während der Rezeption so sehr absorbiert werden bzw. in das medial Präsentierte eintauchen, dass die Medienvermitteltheit ihrer Erfahrung in Vergessenheit gerät und realweltliche Stimuli nicht (mehr) verarbeitet werden. Während Präsenzerleben räumliche und soziale Aspekte der sog. Non-Mediation beschreibt, meint Transportation das Eintauchen in die Narration einer fiktiven Erzählung. Beide Konstrukte werden einerseits von Eigenschaften des Mediums oder dessen Inhalt, andererseits von kognitiven Prozessen, Persönlichkeitseigenschaften und Fähigkeiten der Nutzer und deren Motiv- und Interessenlagen determiniert. Der Beitrag geht in einem ersten Schritt auf die Entstehung von Transportation und Präsenzerleben ein und behandelt dann deren mögliche Wirkungen. Schließlich werden methodische bzw. messtheoretische Aspekte thematisiert. Überlegungen zu offenen Fragen und Desideraten bilden den Abschluss des Überblicks.
