Ein Großteil der chirurgischen Eingriffe in dieser Altersgruppe überschreitet kaum den Zeitrahmen von 60 min — viele sind eher kürzer

Schwere Begleiterkrankungen sind seltener als im Erwachsenenalter
-
Schmerztherapeutisch ist die überwiegende Zahl der Operationen gut zu behandeln, so dass die Kinder rasch in ihren gewohnten Alltag zurückkehren können
-
Die in dieser Altersgruppe nicht selten auftretenden psychischen Belastungen und Folgeerscheinungen einer Hospitalisation werden vermieden
