Folgende Aspekte haben zu einer zunehmenden Akzeptanz von ambulanten Operationen im Kindesalter geführt:

  • Ein Großteil der chirurgischen Eingriffe in dieser Altersgruppe überschreitet kaum den Zeitrahmen von 60 min — viele sind eher kürzer

  • Schwere Begleiterkrankungen sind seltener als im Erwachsenenalter

  • Schmerztherapeutisch ist die überwiegende Zahl der Operationen gut zu behandeln, so dass die Kinder rasch in ihren gewohnten Alltag zurückkehren können

  • Die in dieser Altersgruppe nicht selten auftretenden psychischen Belastungen und Folgeerscheinungen einer Hospitalisation werden vermieden
