The 1B Constellation: An Attempt to Classify Palmer 1B Class

Arthroscopic Management of Ulnar Pain

Abstract

Palmer’s 1B class contains a heterogeneous group of problems which respond to different treatment alternatives. This is confusing. In the author’s opinion, this is due to the fact that in less than 1 cm2, the TFC, the ulnar styloid, and the capsule itself interact. Each of those structures causes its own set of problems and hence cannot be grouped under the same heading.

A classification is proposed in an attempt to help to clarify this complicated area. Horizontal tears are also described.
